2016 Fog Catcher
Library Release
Fog Catcher is our flagship estate Bordeaux blend, named for the cool, grey banks of fog that drift over our vineyards in the early morning. Each year our Winemakers taste our entire library collection of Fog Catcher bottles, from 2006 to 2022, and select their favorites to share for the Holidays. In 2025 we’re excited to share three special vintages: the 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The 2016 vintage is a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Malbec, 14% Petit Verdot, 15% Carménère aged for 29 months in French oak barrels. It is a co-ferment of our best block of Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot with Malbec and Carménère blended in. We built this wine to age and nearly a decade after its release we're still finding that it's delightfully complex and layered, with layers of dark fruit, licorice and minerality framed by well-integrated tannins. An excellent example of what aged wine can evolve into.
