Heart Hill Vineyard is located in the Willow Creek District, a sub AVA of Paso Robles renowned for world class Rhone varietals. We have a diverse set of Syrah clones planted at the site, and this is a rare bottling of ‘Block 18’ from the vineyard. Our winemaking team was immediately drawn to the block’s licorice and fennel flavors and 20% whole-cluster fermentation added more complexity. We aged this wine for 22 months in French oak barrels and it was a brash, rich and complex expression of Syrah upon its release. This is the definition of a wine that improves with time, and additional aging has tamed the wine’s lush and dark personality, creating a polished and rich Syrah.
