2019 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Heart Hill Vineyard
The 2019 vintage has been widely recognized as one of the best of its decade and we’re excited to debut this Cabernet Sauvignon after six years of careful aging in our cellar.
This wine came from a single block of our most esteemed Cabernet Sauvignon vines at Heart Hill Vineyard. Aged for 22 months in four new French oak barrels it’s a rich, powerful wine full of dark brambly fruit and warm vanilla and cinnamon flavors. The tannins have just begun to soften but are still fully present, enveloping the palate and framing the decadent palate. This wine has finally entered its peak drinking window and will be delicious through at least 2035.
The French oak barrels are a story in and of themselves: Winemaker Patrick Muran visited the St. Palais forest and watched as three generations of the esteemed Gauthier family harvested the trees. The Gauthiers operate one of the last independently owned stave mills in France, and this wine exclusively features their staves. A rare chance to experience a ‘forest to barrel’ wine.
If you enjoy a bottle this holiday season, I hope you taste the connection between France and Paso Robles—the warm vanilla, cocoa and toasty spices notes of French oak intertwined with the dark berry richness of our Heart Hill Cabernet Sauvignon.
