2020 Reserve Grenache

We farm Grenache at Jespersen Ranch, where the coastal influence produces a beautiful expression of the varietal. in 2020, we hand-harvested the grapes for this wine primarily from a single block in the vineyard and fermented them in 5 different lots. We used a unique approach for each lot before combining them to create the final wine. A small piece of the blend (8%) was fermented in a concrete tank and everything else was fermented in stainless steel open-top tanks. We aged the wine for 17 months in a variety of vessels: 31% new oak, 22% concrete, 53% neutral French. This is a stunning, fresh wine with layers of dark red fruit, graphite and spice.
