2022 Reserve Chardonnay

Our Reserve Chardonnay is crafted from the top 14 barrels of the vintage, hand-selected by Winemaker Molly Bohlamn for their depth of flavor and vibrancy. Half of the barrels were new, imparting richness to the wine.

We farm Chardonnay at Jespersen Ranch, our estate vineyard located in the northwestern corner of the Edna Valley just four miles from the Pacific Ocean. Less than .1% of California vineyards are planted this close to the coast, making the Chardonnays from this site a rare delight. 

We hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed the Chardonnay clusters and fermented the wine in French oak barrels.  ⅔ of the barrels underwent native fermentation. All of the barrels underwent malolactic fermentation, a stylistic choice that we love to pair with the bright minerality and acidity that comes from grapes grown at such an oceanic site. The result is a beautifully complex Chardonnay that is delicious now and will continue to evolve as it ages.
