Our nine acres of Syrah are planted in the cool, coastal climate of Edna Valley, just four miles from the Pacific Ocean. Less than 0.1% of California vineyards are planted this close to the coast, making Syrah from this site an especially rare expression. This reserve bottling draws from one of the oldest blocks in the vineyard, located in what Winemaker Molly Bohlman calls the “magic triangle” where we frequently get our most interesting expressions of Syrah. We aged the wine in French Oak barrels for 20 months and an additional two years in bottle. This patience resulted in a striking expression of cool-climate Syrah with a rich tapestry of dark berries, black olives and alluring spice.
