2023 Reserve Pinot Noir
95 points
We farm a diverse set of Pinot Noir clones at Jespersen Ranch, our coastal vineyard just four miles from the Pacific Ocean, and this reserve bottling represents the top barrels of the vintage. The site’s cool, foggy mornings and warm afternoon breezes create an exceptional environment to craft pure, stunning Pinot Noir that reflects the maritime climate.
We hand-harvested the tiny, jewel toned clusters early in the morning and fermented them in stainless steel tanks. Whole cluster and stem components added layers of flavors, tannin and personality. We then aged the Pinot Noir in French oak barrels for 10 months and at the end, Winemaker Molly Bohlman hand-selected the finest barrels for this limited Reserve bottling.
In the glass, the wine opens with a graceful bouquet of rose petal, cherry blossom, and orange zest. The palate unfolds in layers of raspberry Danish, framed by firm yet refined tannins, and concludes with a lingering note of dark cocoa powder. It's drinking beautifully upon it's release this autumn and will continue to develop over the next few years.
