2017 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Heart Hill Vineyard
85% cabernet sauvignon, 15% petit verdot

We farm a single block of Cabernet Sauvignon adjacent to Heart Hill that consistently produces a complex and expressive wine. It plays a large part in Fog Catcher, and the remainder goes into this bottling. It has a vibrant personality, with bright fruit wrapped in warm vanilla flavors that cascade into beautiful tannins and balanced acidity.

2017 Reserve Pinot Noir, Jespersen Ranch
100% Pinot Noir
Each year we select the most expressive barrels of Pinot Noir for this wine. This vintage is a blend of two ‘heritage’ clones of Pinot Noir: Calera & Rochioli. We only have a few acres of these clones but they have the perfect soil and orientation for Pinot Noir. They offer more soft, red-fruit characteristics than some of our other clones and performed well in the warmer vintage of 2017.

2017 Reserve Super Paso, Bootjack Ranch
29% petit verdot, 24% Carménère, 21% barbera, 19% Sangiovese, 4% syrah, 2% cabernet Sauvignon, 1% malbec
“Super Tuscan” wines originated from renegade Italian winemakers who scorned traditional blending laws in order to make their own unique wines. In their spirit, our Super Paso takes two Italian grapes, Sangiovese and Barbera, and blends them with non-traditional grapes from Bootjack Ranch. In 2017 that was mostly Petit Verdot and Carménère! This wine is richer than our stand-alone Sangiovese, and it’s fresh, ripe flavors make it a standout.

2017 Reserve Square Root, Heart Hill Vineyard
62% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 18% Mourvedre
Square Root is our Reserve “GSM” blend and is made of the best Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre from Heart Hill Vineyard each year. We aged the blend in a large, French Oak tank for 21 months. The result is a fully integrated wine with an expansive palate outlined by fine-grained tannins, plush dark fruits and mouthwatering acidity.

2017 Syrah, Jespersen Ranch
99% syrah, 1% grenache
We farm just eight acres of Syrah at Jespersen Ranch. The vines enjoy a longer, cooler growing season than our Paso Robles vineyards and as a result produce a complex, cool-climate Syrah. The 2017 vintage shows off a combination of black pepper and pomegranate aromas. The pepper comes through deliciously on the palate, balanced by fruit and acidity to create a dense, mouthwatering wine.

2017 Sangiovese, Bootjack Ranch & Heart Hill Vineyard
75% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Barbera
We’ve been farming Sanigovese at Bootjack Ranch for over two decades now. We love its combination of dusty tannins and acidity. The 2017 vintage has an earthiness reminiscent of true “old world” Sangiovese and is drinking great right now. We’ve found that there isn’t much you could put on the dinner table that it won’t compliment, but we’re partial to serving it with your next pizza night.

2018 Pinot Noir
100% Pinot Noir
We farm thirty acres of Pinot Noir at Jespersen Ranch in the Edna Valley. 2018 was a relatively cool year with low rainfall, and we saw lower than average yields in our Pinot Noir. We fermented this wine in open-top tanks with some whole cluster and stem inclusion and a portion went through fermentation natively. The result is a complex wine with dark fruit, spice and earthy layers.

2019 Pinot Noir Rosé
100% pinot noir
We harvested our Rosé grapes on September 10th – about a week before we started picking Pinot Noir for red wine. The grapes had lower sugar and higher acidity, perfect to make a flavorful, dry Rosé! We fermented the juice in stainless steel barrels and blended in a hint of Albariño for more aromatics. Pour a glass and find watermelon and lime flavors with a fresh, mineral-driven palate.
